One… two… three.. four… we declare a PENNY WAR!
The Rules: Each grade has a jug to drop coins into between April 14 - April 25, 2025. Containers are located in the library. The grade level that collects the most money will win a pizza party! Winning grade will be announced on Thursday, May 1st via PTO Class Dojo.
Proceeds will go towards funding DDES Field Day. Thanks for your support!

DDES Family Dance
Bring your family and come dance away the evening with your friends and favorite teachers! Pizza, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.
Teachers are also looking for parent volunteers to help with the family dance.

APEX Fun Run
Get ready for our annual APEX Fun Run! Double Diamond Elementary School and APEX are partnering to promote fitness and build leaders! Students earn rewards as they gather pledges beginning May 20, 2025. Look for information coming home with your student!
The big run will be on Friday, May 30th! Volunteers needed to mark laps and run the hydration station!

Field Day!
Our Coyote teachers will be hosting FIELD DAY for our students.

Contingency Days
Contingency days are added to the school year in case of snow, smoke or other uncontrollable circumstances that make schools inaccessible or unusable. These days extend the school year beyond the regular end date.

Second Grade Music Concert - The Day the Crayons Quit
The second-grade class presents ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ Second Grade Concert. Come and enjoy your student singing, dancing and playing to variety of music they have learned in music class this year. The concert is on Friday, March 14th in the school cafeteria at 9:45 AM. Doors will open at 9:30 AM to families coming out to support their students.

The third-grade class presents Ukelele Performance Third Grade Concert. Come and enjoy your student singing, dancing and playing to variety of music they have learned in music class this year. Kindergarten Open House
Double Diamond Elementary Kindergarten Open House
Meet other families at our kinder Open House event, where you will learn about expectations and tips for kindergarten readiness. Enjoy the opportunity to meet our staff our and tour our school.
For students who will be in kindergarten in August 2025, DDES is hosting an open house on February 25th from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM. If you have a kindergartener or know a neighbor or friend with a student who will be 5 by August 1, 2025, please let them know how to join us and find out what kindergarten is all about. President's Day (No School)

Happy Hearts Week
Support our library and show your love for your friends, teachers and staff at Double Diamond Elementary School with ballons and stuffies. Happy Hearts will be distributed Monday, February 10th through Friday, February 14th.
Volunteers Needed:
We are in need of help with a major fundraiser for our library. We will be selling stuffed animals and helium balloons to be delivered Monday - Friday, February 10-14, 2025.
Helpers are needed for lots of tasks including: preparing supplies, filling balloons, sorting orders and deliveries.
No experience is required and any amount of help is much appreciated.

Holiday Food Drive
This holiday season, please consider helping our Coyote families in need with dinner and additional food items for winter break. We will be accepting donations on Friday, December 13th - Wednesday, December 18th to prepare boxes of holiday dinners for our families in need. Items needed are sorted by grade and can be sent to school with your student or dropped off at the front office.

Toys for Tots Toy Pickup
Toys for Tots will be providing a new toy for every child in the school this holiday season and we need your help picking them up!
Our distribution date is on Tuesday, December 10th from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at 140 N. Virginia Street, Reno, NV 89501 (between Cal Neva Casino and City Hall buildings).

We will begin accepting donations on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 to prepare boxes of Thanksgiving dinner for families in need. Items needed are sorted by grade and can be sent to school with your student or dropped off at the front office.

Teacher Professional Development Day - Election Day (No School)

Daylight Savings - Turn Clocks Back
Daylight saving time will end Sunday, November 3rd, at 2 A.M., when most modern clocks will automatically “fall back” one hour to 1 A.M., meaning we get an extra hour of sleep that night. Don’t forget to turn back your clocks!
